Joshua Pether (WA)
Joshua was born in Mount Isa, Queensland and is of Kalkadoon heritage. He trained at ACPA (Aboriginal Centre for the Performing Arts) and was a member of LINK Dance Company in 2012. He currently works for Touch Compass, New Zealands only professional integrated dance company. As an artist who identifies as having a disability, Joshua is aware of the prejudices experienced when entering the dance space. His own practice is about voicing these prejudices and also questioning who has the right to dance and what ownership, if any, does the disabled dancer have over their own body. He sees himself as an activist who is passionate about providing opportunities for those who are unseen and making work that is relevant both politically and culturally in the current environment that exists in disability led arts practice.
