PIAF and DADAA Partnership

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Wendy Martin, Perth International Arts Festival (PIAF) has a commitment to presenting work by the world’s leading artists with disabilities. This commitment addresses a core value of the Festival’s artistic vision to celebrate difference and develop diverse audiences.

In 2016–19, through a partnership with DADAA (Disability in the Arts, Disadvantage in the Arts, WA) PIAF will champion accessibility for artists and audiences.  This partnership creates opportunities for the dynamic exchange of ideas and practice between visiting international artists with disabilities and the Western Australian arts community with audiences.

PIAF’s commitment to connecting artists with disabilities and attracting audiences for this ground breaking area of work offers the potential to challenge not only traditional expectations of a festival program, but also community attitudes to people living with disabilities.

Importantly the partnership between DADAA and PIAF continues to contribute to development in the Western Australian arts sector and offers the possibility for our State to lead the way in disability arts.
