Laura Boynes (WA)
Laura is a dancer, choreographer and dance film-maker and the co-founder of multi-disciplinary collective Praxis. She graduated from WAAPA in 2007 and has performed with national and international choreographers such as Ros Warby, Chrissie Parrott, Joanne Leighton, Clare Dyson, Didier Theron, Aimee Smith, Sally Richardson, Sue Peacock and the English National Opera. From 2009–2013 Laura performed for Buzz Dance Theatre and in 2013 acted as Artistic Associate, choreographing and co-directing Look the Other Way, Winner of the Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Youth and Community Dance. Laura’s films have been shown in Reeldance, Electrofringe, (Australia) Cinedans (Amsterdam) and two of her films remain permanently in the Reeldance Moving Image Collection. Her work Dark Matter, (PRAXIS collective) will be presented by Performing Lines WA in 2016. She works on DADAA’s stARTSPEAK program, mentoring artists in the Digital Dialogues and TEEM Treasure projects.
